Over my time at ACLC, I've gained many skills and abilities. I've learned a lot, about myself and others.
Personal Qualities, Work Habits, and Attitudes
One of the things I find readily apparent about myself is my intense self esteem. I do care deeply about myself and the image I project, because I find it necessary to be aware of those things to optimally function in society, but at the end of the day I like myself a whole lot. I’m confident, I like how I look, I’m entertaining around others and I don’t tend to sell myself short. I know who I am and what I can do, while also acknowledging and accepting my limitations. Of course, I strive to excel in everything I can, but I also know when to step back and make sure that with all the things I am doing I have enough energy to do them well. Time management has always been a struggle for me, but I’ve been able to find ways to allot time not solely for the things I must do, but also for the things I want to do. While from the outside I may appear to leave things until the last minute, the truth of the matter is that I structure my tasks in such a way that I can balance my work time and my time to do things I enjoy, and which help me to manage my mental and emotional state.
New Basics
Over my high school experience, I have refined my methods of communication in English and learned some basic communication in French. Both speaking and writing are things I’ve improved on immensely as I got older, and my quality of writing coming out of high school is infinitely better than it was coming in. I also think I’ve learned a decent amount about art, both visual and non visual. I’ve enhanced my artistic writing alongside my academic writing, and I have learned some good basics of how to create visually appealing art as well.
Thinking and Reasoning Skills Creative thinking has always been a strong suit of mine. From making up worlds in my head to thinking on my feet when fencing, my brain really does well with flexibility and imagination. Creative problem solving comes up in my daily life as well, and it's part of how I manage day to day. My creative thinking, problem solving, and reasoning skills all come hand in hand, because the ways I've utilized them allows me to work that way easily.
Interpersonal Skills I have been a part of many successful group projects. I have at times tried to lead groups, and at other times simply worked in tandem with group members. I believe that this has resulted most successfully over all, as I have maintained my grades with those that I have received in the past on group work. Also, I don’t think I’ve made anyone hate me via group projects and we’re calling that a win.
Technology Distance learning especially has made a grasp on technology invaluable. The importance of technology in our daily lives was already high, as most classes require the use of it to complete assignments.
Conclusion
ACLC has meant a lot to me over the years, and has led to a lot of growth and new skills. It's been an interesting time, and I'm excited to see where things go from here.
